The same goes for the price of milk, eggs, or a movie ticket. Thrifty people track these sorts of things because they are purchases they make very regularly. Consumers are very aware of, and sensitive to, changes in these prices.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the contrary, many homeowners have never gotten a quote for a brand-new swimming pool before. That leaves a lot of room for imagination. Under those conditions it\u2019s easy to see how they would think of a figure that was much larger or smaller than a realistic price.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pool Prices are Hidden<\/b><\/p>\n

I made the point that many homeowners have never gotten a price for a pool. The ones who have aren\u2019t always doing a lot better. It represents a large and infrequent purchase, meaning that memories can play tricks or provide context that isn\u2019t useful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Think of how much you paid for your first car. Now think of what a similar level of automobile would cost today. If you hadn\u2019t bought any other vehicle in the years in between you\u2019d be blown away by the difference. Inflation and the rise in the cost of living can seem enormous when you aren\u2019t aware of them on a month-to-month basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another way pool prices are hidden lies in the fact that they are usually sold as part of a property. You can \u201cpay\u201d for a swimming pool as part of a real estate deal without ever seeing the expense broken out separately. In that scenario you might not think about its costs separate from other features.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fiberglass Pools Have a Different Value<\/b><\/p>\n

Even if you knew and understood all I have mentioned so far you could still be surprised by fiberglass pool prices. That\u2019s because their value can sometimes be calculated a bit differently.<\/span><\/p>\n

When you put in a gunite (concrete) swimming pool you might theoretically save a little bit of money on the installation. However, over the long run it\u2019s going to need more repairs, more treatment to the water in the pool, and to be replaced more quickly.<\/span><\/p>\n

A fiberglass swimming pool, on the other hand, can cost a bit more up front. But once you have it installed it looks great and requires very minimal upkeep. So, you’re trading a few extra dollars today for lower seasonal costs in the future. They end up being a lot more cost-efficient in the long run, but the initial quote might surprise you.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Fiberglass Pool Installation Increase Property Values<\/b><\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t directly related to sticker shock, but it\u2019s worth mentioning in any discussion about fiberglass pool installation quotes. Adding something sleek and durable to your backyard makes your home worth more. On the one hand, it means a future buyer could pay a higher price for your property (as already mentioned). It could also give you access to more equity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The point to be made here isn\u2019t that you should pay more than you\u2019re comfortable with for a fiberglass pool, just to remember that it can be an investment in your future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Would you expect a fiberglass pool, which could enhance your home for decades, to cost the same amount as a midsized family car?<\/span><\/p>\n

Most customers, if they thought about it, would realize it\u2019s only reasonable for the pool to put a bigger dent in their savings. But they don\u2019t always come into the process with that expectation.<\/span><\/p>\n

I like to tell people that when you dream big enough and we do our work well the result is a space that makes you feel as if you could take a vacation by staying at home. That\u2019s almost priceless. It will not be a low-cost, spur of the moment purchase. And it\u2019s almost certainly not a decision you\u2019ll make based solely on numbers and budgets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
